Recruitment conditions:

We are looking for the one who:
Loves the cultural relics and museum undertaking;
Has basic knowledge of the cultural relics and museum undertaking
as well as Shanghai's history and culture;
Has the ability to use Mandarin or other standardized languages;
Between the ages of 18 and 65;
Physically and mentally healthy, capable of performing the work
arranged by the Museum;
Available at least once a week, and no less than 3 hours each time;
Strictly abides by the rules and regulations of Shanghai Museum of

Volunteer Association Charter of Shanghai History Museum
I. General Provisions

Article 1 To promote the dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress of volunteerinism, facilitate the construction of the museum, enhance the social service functions of the museum, and better carry out the volunteer service and exchange activities of Shanghai History Museum, this Charter is hereby formulated in accordance with the Shanghai Volunteer Association Charter.

Article 2 The full name of the Association is the Shanghai History Museum Volunteer Association.

Article 3 Volunteers referred to in this Charter refer to individuals who are interested in museum undertaking but not in pursuit of material compensation, and use their own time, skills and other resources to voluntarily provide free services to the society and others.

Article 4 The main job responsibilities of the Association are to provide volunteer services for Shanghai History Museum and to conduct volunteer learning, exchanges and socializing activities.

Article 5 This Association is subject to the Department of Education of Shanghai History Museum.

II. Qualifications and Recruitment of Volunteers

Article 6 Basic Qualifications of Volunteers of the Association
(1) Between the ages of 18 and 65, with independent civil capacity, physical and mental health;
(2) Enthusiastic over social welfare undertakings, with dedication and willingness to use their spare time to serve the public free of charge; (3) Enjoying the cultural relics and museum undertaking, having the basic knowledge of the cultural relics and museum undertaking as well as Shanghai's history and culture, and being able to use Mandarin or other standardized languages;
(4) Abiding by the laws, regulations and rules of the state;
(5) Obeying the rules and regulations of the Museum as well as obeying the assignment and arrangement of the Association;
(6) Having the skills and time necessary for the volunteer activities carried out by the Association and generally with a college degree or equivalent to a college degree or above.
Article 7 The Museum recruits volunteers directly or through the recommendation of relevant units and social groups according to the needs of the work.
Article 8 The applicants or nominees must pass the interview and written test before accepting the recruitment.
Article 9 Procedures for Membership
(1) Voluntarily apply and fill out the application form with a one-inch photo attached;
(2) The applicant passes the interview and the preliminary business test;
(3) After passing the preliminary test, take the volunteer training;
(4) After the training is over, the applicant will be recruited after passing the 8-hour probation.

III. Rights and Obligations of Volunteers
Article 10 Rights of Volunteers
(1) Visit the displays and exhibitions held by the Museum free of charge by a certificate;
(2) Participate in lectures and other activities organized by the Museum;
(3) Discounts are available when purchasing the goods and publications of the Museum;
(4) Participate in the organization and management of the Association, and propose opinions and suggestions on related work;
(5) Have the right to recommend volunteers to the Association;
(6) Participate in the volunteer exchange activities organized by the Association.
Article 11 Obligations of Volunteers
(1) Fulfill the commitment of volunteer service and obey the management of the Association and the competent department;
(2) The working hours of the volunteers shall be determined by the relevant departments and the volunteers themselves. Each voluntary service time shall be no less than 3 hours and no less than 100 hours per year. Volunteers must hold the "Shanghai History Museum Volunteer Service Manual" for each activity to record each activity which shall be confirmed by the Museum;
(3) Consciously maintain the image of the Association and the Museum;
(4) When providing volunteer services, wear work cards, use Mandarin and standardized language, and pay attention to etiquette;
(5) Volunteers must participate in the business training of the Museum;
(6) During the work period, properly keep all kinds of items belonging to Shanghai Museum of History, and shall not damage, discard or appropriate such items to themselves. All items shall be returned to the person in charge of the management department after the event is over; (7) Do not engage in any activity for the purpose of making profits or violating social morality as a volunteer.

IV. Volunteer Management
Article 12 The competent department of the Association provides management and services for registered volunteers.
Article 13 The Association shall establish a database of registered volunteer talents and implement a classified management and unified coordination mechanism.
Article 14 The Museum provides relevant business training for volunteers and keeps proper records.
Article 15 The Museum shall hand out the “Shanghai History Museum Volunteer Service Manual” to the volunteers, and truthfully record each service as a basis for work evaluation.
Article 16 Awards
(1) At the end of the year, the Museum will commend those who have performed well in this year and award the title(s) of “Excellent Volunteer” and/or “Excellent Volunteer Service Team”;
Article 17 Punishment
(1) Criticism on thoses who fail to participate in volunteer activities for two consecutive times without justifiable reasons, and the person in charge shall be responsible for his or her ideological work;
(2) For volunteers who fail to participate in volunteer activities for three consecutive times without justified reasons, if the persuasion proved ineffective, they will be de-registered;
(3) Where the performance in the service is inconsistent with that of the volunteers, and the image of Shanghai History Museum is damaged thereby, if the persuasion proved ineffective, they will be de-registered;
(4) The Museum has the right to revoke his/her volunteer qualifications due to his/her violations of the law which incur punishment imposed by the public security organs. Those who are revoked may not reapply to become volunteers of the Museum.
Article 18 The Association implements the principle of voluntary membership and withdrawal. The work period of volunteer is generally one year. After the application by himself/herself and upon approval, the period may be extended. If you are unable to participate in daily service due to health issue or work, you may apply for withdrawal for this year. The Association will retain your volunteer identity for one year.

V. Supplementary Provisions
Article 19 The right to interpret the Charter shall be vested in the Department of Education of Shanghai History Museum.
Article 20 The Charter shall be implemented as of the date of promulgation.
